Investing in Juan Soto

+ Juan Soto Topps Heritage high number base #502 (raw)

Purchased 1/12/2021 for $15.00 on COMC

Soto is on a meteoric rise right at this moment, and I see no reason for a slow down until the season starts. Then it’ll be big decision time – sell, or hold? We’ll reassess during spring training, but I think it’ll be a hold and then sell at some point in the season at a peak. I think there’s room for 2-3X return on this raw card. Soto may be the best player in baseball and is going into the stage of his career where he’s seasoned enough, but young and healthy enough, to absolutely put up monster numbers.

Not his flagship/update rookie, but I think there’s a ton of room for the Heritage high numbers to gain in popularity, especially for guys like Soto who are quickly becoming unaffordable for most people for the flagship cards. Heritage high number is a beautiful card and I expect will tail upwards as the Update card soars.

Juan Soto 2018 Topps Update #US300
Heritage high number is on the rise as well, but not nearly as dramatic as Update.
Lots of room to continue to increase.

Juan Soto Notes +++: For the specific card I purchased from COMC, there was one cheaper but was far more off-center. Centering always needs to be considered with Heritage cards. The one I purchased looks great on centering, so I see no reason not to put it in a StarStock A category, which has offers currently at $37.00. eBay sales are currently sitting anywhere between $20 and $30 raw.

Heritage high number PSA10s are currently selling around $140 on average, with a POP of 4501 (1/12/2021). Compare that with the Update, which is selling for $300+ and has a POP of more than 3X! (14,974). Heritage will follow – even if not to the same degree – the trajectory of the Update.
