+ Anthony Rendon 2013 Topps Update base rookie #US8 (raw)
Purchased 1/7/2021 for $5.00
I think there’s a ton of room for Rendon, especially now that he’s in the LA market. Of course he’s paying second (or third) fiddle to Trout and Ohtani, however, I think he’s a good long term guy considering how injury prone Ohtani is. Number 2 to Trout isn’t a bad thing. Now, the tricky thing with COMC is that you can only see scans of the cards, and they are not super high resolution. You’re likely not going to be able to tell if there are surface scratches or even slight dings on corners or edges. In a lot of cases, they will tell you if there are issues, but I’m not sure that I’m confident that they are 100% perfect in catching minor issues. For the Rendon I bought, I chose second cheapest at the time because the centering looked far better than some other ones they had, even in similar price range. My guess is the potential for a PSA9, but of course hard to tell. So, we’ll stick with raw on this one and just look to flip raw when the time is right. I think it’s an easy double-the-money flip, if not more, this season.
Anthony Rendon Notes +++: StarStock is steadily rising, with StarStockA sitting around $10 and eBay sales are topping out at about $10 raw.
PSA10 of this card has great opportunity, in my opinion. POP of 1039 (1/12/21), while Arenado from same set has a POP of almost 3X at 2979. Machado 2013 Topps has a POP of 1180 (similar) yet is selling 2-3X higher than Rendon. Rendon is the better player, and I believe a bigger star in the LA market, ESPECIALLY, if the Angels can start making post season.
