Seafood Rain, June 2018 – Falling Octopus Hoax
Quingdao, in eastern China, experienced a massive rainstorm, complete with sea creatures falling from the sky. It is thought that “seafood rain” involves tornadic waterspouts over the ocean during severe weather events. According to social media postings, the event included prawns and starfish and other small sea creatures splattering windshields and streets during a torrential downpour.
The falling octopus, while going viral and viewed by millions, was proven to be fake.
