What started as an idea many years ago, while artist Brian Dodson was taking print-making classes in art school in 2004, finally came to fruition in 2021. Using a wood-cut relief print making process, Brian hand carved 7 different color plates from hardwood and hand printed each individual card to create this series of 7 one-of-one unique, custom art cards of the legendary and iconic Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps rookie card.

Each signed and hand numbered by the artist, there will forever only be seven of these prints in existence. While more art will be created from the original woodcut plates, this series will never be duplicated.

The hand-printed, distressed quality is Brian's way of paying homage to the early baseball card printing techniques, while bringing an abstract and modern art take on an iconic image.
